'The transient segment is driving in business'
BW HOTELIER talks to Ranju Singh, Complex General Manager of Novotel Goa Resort & Spa and Novotel Goa Candolim, about the property's reopening strategy, location advantages, customer expectations and much more.
Goa is amongst the top destinations for MICE and weddings in the country. What are your views?
I agree! Goa has undoubtedly been the most popular leisure destination and more over a preferred one for MICE and weddings owing to picturesque beaches. Destination weddings have been a trend of the season in recent times and the beachscape has been the most favourable backdrop to tie the knot.
Tell us briefly about the market response to the reopening of hotels in Goa?
The market has responded positively, allowing us to open both Novotel Goa Resort & Spa and Novotel Goa Candolim offering the much-needed vacation that everyone has been looking forward to. We have pushed the horizon to make our hotels a safe oasis for travellers by being ALLSAFE certified.
According to you, which market segments are going to drive the performance of hotels in this region?
Transient segment driving in business for both our properties, with reservations being made from our brand website as well as online travel portals.
We have a lot of families coming together to celebrate missed occasions while taking advantage of the ‘Missed Celebrations Offer’. Guests that claim the offer before 31st December 2020, get a hotel voucher worth 30 per cent of the final amount spent which can be redeemed against future stays or restaurant expenses at the same hotel by 31st March 2021.
What is your USP and how does it help in the changing face of the hotel operations?
Both the properties are minutes away from the Candolim beach and in proximity to north Goa’s other popular beaches, giving guests the escape to enjoy sun, sand and sea that Goa is most known for.
Novotel Goa Resort & Spa offers relaxation from the mundane through its tranquil setting while the expansive Warren Tricomi Salon and Spa with Goa’s only Turkish hammam offers much needed rejuvenation.
Novotel Goa Candolim is vibrant with a right blend of fun, family spirit and wellbeing. Located on the high energy Candolim street and lively night life of North Goa allows guests the freedom to explore Goa at their own pace.
How do you respond to customer fears and tailor your guest experience in the post-covid environment?
In current times, business has evolved around assuring guests that they can be safe during their stay with us. The ALLSAFE certification label which is appraised by Bureau Veritas has helped reinforce the faith in their safety due to the stringent measures of hygiene and cleanliness that we undertake.
We have put together experiences which require minimum contact like private cooking or mixology masterclasses.
What is your strategy to attract more domestic travellers?
Phase wise offers were planned keeping in mind the progressive and the changing expectations of the guest based developing protocols by the government. All this was taken into account while being competitive with widespread distribution of the same through all channels.
Additionally, Accor has rolled out a new offer, ‘For the Love of Celebrations’, under this offer, guests can avail flat 30 per cent discount on their booking, an INR 500 meal voucher and same day free cancellation and there are additional benefits for our loyalty members like free breakfast and triple ALL Reward points. The booking period starts from 11th December and ends on 17th December for stays starting from 11th December 2020 till 31st March 2021.
What are your plans for 2021?
As we step into a new year, our objective is to develop new ways which are beyond pricing to entice the customers to come stay with us.
This will be amplified with cultural experiences that guest can be a part of which are not limited to beaches. Experiences like a cashew trail during the season, walking tours depicting the Goan heritage and more will be available to choose from.
